…. And I was either on the right side of the ledger — getting more than I receive — or dissatisfied. I realize that my role is, among those close to me, to provide witness to their life. For them to know that I notice. To rescue them from any doubt that they matter, that when good or bad things happen to them … that I notice. Their life happens, and registers, as a decent man who loves them provides witness.
