The mental energy freed up from letting go of alcohol is priceless, but even after 36 years of sobriety I must confess to a recent bout of FOMO as you described while in Italy. It was my first time there, and the culture is so steeped in drinking I felt like I couldn't relax. Funny to feel that way after so many years.
I hope this finds you 10 more sober days down the road. It's worth it - I've had a rich life, full of good and extremely hard times that I managed without a drink. Getting closer to the center of yourself is a huge gift, as you are finding.
